Be Responsible… Quit your Job!

Now I know you’re thinking the title of this post makes no sense…. well to the “average” Joe/Jane this kinda statement is an offense to their good sensibilities.

And I guess if being “average” is what you’re striving for then it really does make no sense. But….

If you’re like me and abhor the “average”, then what I’m saying may make you want to think.

So here is the deal; YOU were NOT born to be average! How do I know this? Because each and every one of us has greatness inside, each of us (including you), has the power to bring forth into this human experience things that are awesome, great and extraordinary .

Maybe you’re not the next Einstein – WAIT! I know you’re not the next Einstein, you are the next you! You are the ONLY one that can be YOU. And when you tap into more of who YOU are, you become the “next” you. And here’s where it get’s tricky…

Because there are lots of people, institutions, religions and other “thought creators” that have an interest in you being average and not discovering who you truly are. Some of these “thought creators” know exactly what they’re doing, others are just passing along a mantra they themselves were taught.

Conforming to the will of these “thought creators” is hard to avoid because they are everywhere. One place they really want your compliance is when it comes to the “average” job. You know the get up and work a day, go home late, sleep and do it again life.

For the most part the providers of these “average” jobs want drones, worker bees, mindless followers. Independent thought, brilliance and greatness scares them, so they are not quick to encourage you to “BE” that.

And that’s where you need to decide what is “REALLY” responsible; Is your life meant to be spent as a mindless drone? Is this what God created you for? I admit that there is a need for all manner of skills, jobs, labor, thought and creation, but if you are in a job/career that you cannot give your full passion to then I would suggest that maybe you’re NOT being responsible.

See I believe that our highest responsibility is to the greatness we were born with and the gifts of creation that we are here to bring alive.  As I write this I’m listening to one of my favorite artist, Jimmy Buffett, I can only imagine what a tragedy it would have been if he wouldn’t have followed his greatness.

Think a moment about your favorite writer, actor, musician, comedian, waiter, chef, mechanic, or other person that truly lives the life they are here to live. Just think if these people had not followed the urge inside them to live a life of passion, what would you have missed out of? Great music, food or other things that are a true joy in your life.

Now think about the latest REALLY BAD experience you had with a company or service, I bet the person(s) you interacted with are NOT living their true life/passion. These people are miserable because they have an urge in them that they suppress daily so they can “be responsible” and make it to work at their average job.

Please DON’T be that person, if you don’t TRULY love your work, start preparing to quit… I know you maybe scared, you may not have any idea how you’ll make it, you may be worried about how the family, spouse, boss, kids or someone else may react. I completely understand! I’ve been there myself and I’ve lead many clients through the same process.

The truth is it really doesn’t matter what they think, or that you have fear. The truth is you will not be fulfilled until you follow that urge.

No amount of money, praise or level of accomplishment will make work you’re not meant for be rewarding.

To make things worse I believe that somewhere there is someone or maybe lots of people that are suffering because what you are here to do is not being fulfilled or being fulfilled by someone that was not meant to do YOUR work. I hope I’m making sense now…

You are great, you have talents, skills and gifts that NO ONE else can deliver like YOU can. If you are not doing what you’re inspired to do, you are being irresponsible to those you are here to serve, your loved ones, your creator and most of all YOURSELF!

Please go and be responsible and live your passion, dream and greatness.
